How It Works

It’s always best to schedule a call or zoom session with me so that I can guide you on the best path moving forward. Our packages are built from our experience in working with clients but they don’t always fit each person.

This is our very first step in getting started. If you are struggling with where to start, how to sort and organize your collection, and want to figure out a vision moving forward than this is for you. By far it is also the most difficult step but this is where we get you past the overwhelm!

This step builds off of our PREPARE package. At this point you are ready to scan and digitize your collection and convert any old media. We figure out the right storage including private cloud storage and physical storage of your items for preservation. We edit, tag, name, and create a digital structure matching your physical items.

PREPARE Package

Start here! I offer in-person pick up locally (within 50 miles of Winchester, VA) and I'll sort and organize for you **. This is also our DIY package if you just need some guidance and motivation to get started and get through the overwhelm.

General Coaching Session

Same as our PREPARE package but we will focus on where you are at in your project. This is for the DIY'ers that need guidance such as getting started in scanning and digitizing, creating memory books, or other parts of your journey.

This is an example of a typical breakdown of a project with all three steps to get to a final vision such as creating a custom memory book of a military service member or family history archive with a medium size collection of photos, documents, and memorabilia. 

 

  1. Prepare - We will discuss your project goals and establish your vision while you gather all your materials. Once your materials are handed over, I'll organize and create your file structure, inventory items, and create your custom quote for Step 2. We will create your Free 2GB private cloud storage account for file transfers, review, and digital uploads. Cost $300 **if the collection is extremely large or multiple pickups are required I will charge accordingly and quote prior to moving forward. Upon completion, I'll provide full inventory, draft contracts/quotes for Step 2.
  2. Preserve - I'll scan and digitize your items or convert old media. You will transfer any digital media to your cloud account if not completed in Step 1. I'll work on edits of scanned items such as basic crops, color correction, tagging, and naming. We will purchase permanent private cloud storage and a backup hard drive based upon the storage capacity size of finished digital items, and/or if desired we will obtain archival storage boxes, or other materials -based upon your selections. (Price is based upon quote of qty of items from step 1 but typically runs between $750 - $1500 + ad ons decided at time of quote. Next, we will close out and review the draft contracts/quotes for Step 3.
  3. Present - I'll complete the final organizing and begin to do the layout and design of your end product (book, video, other). We will hold 2-4 video/phone sessions for your oral history, stories, captions, or design proofs. Tie up any loose ends, arrange turnover of your items, and present your finished product! We finish with closeout, billing, and celebrate your story! (Price is based upon your material purchases and product selections but can range from ~ $300 - $1200 + any ad ons).
